General Description
On this page and the other pages we will create a uniform style. I don’t know if you use style sheets but we’ll start with something simple and basic and evolve it as required.
At the top and bottom of every page place a highly visible ‘banner’ including the website address, my email address and phone number and the ‘mouse with an idea’ logo. Something like this:

Making Computers Work
YES – We can fix your computer / technology emergency BUT – We are not in the business of providing continuous temporary fixes. WHY – Why did you have the emergency? Are you using hardware or software in a way that contributed to the problem? THE ANSWER IS GENERALLY “YES”
Technology as it is designed is typically 100 times more than what the customer wants or needs. The complexity of the overkill is overwhelming and can bog down your system and your life.
THE SOLUTION IS – understanding what you have, understanding what you want or need, and then finding the most efficient way of accomplishing your tasks using as much of your existing technology as possible, but only what you really need, and most of what you need is free!
TEMPORARY FIXES ARE NOT THE ANSWER
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF TO FIND YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS SITUATION?
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being very good
· (1 to 10) _____ How would your rate your current backup strategy?
· (1 to 10) _____ How would you rate your current data and system security?
· (1 to 10) _____ At what level does your current hardware and software work for you?
· (1 to 10) _____ Are you able to access all of your data in a secure manner remotely from anywhere in the world. If not would this be useful?
· (1 to 10) _____ How well do you control multiple users on your systems?
· (1 to 10) _____ How well is all of your business and personal technology integrated, backed up and made accessible?
· (1 to 10) _____ Are you able to, in a reliable and secure manner access your data and systems remotely from anywhere in the world. If not, would this be useful?
· (1 to 10) _____ Are your data, contacts, personal and business information well organized and synchronized or are they spread out, duplicated, and disconnected over non-integrated technologies?
· (1 to 10) _____ All of your technologies: computers, IDevices (IPods, IPhones, ITouch), cell phones, entertainment systems (PSP, Xbox. Wii) can be integrated. How important is making all your technology work together?

More Details about our Services
Technology it seems is designed primarily to sell; any real usefulness to the customer is almost accidental!
Technology and the Internet changes so quickly that no one can really say with any certainty what is best or what is coming. Only by taking ownership of your own technology and data, and thinking about what you really want to do can you ever hope to implement technology successfully.
We can help you assess, refine, and envision a new way of using and choosing technology that empowers you to understand the choices you make and how you use your technology in a way that frees you from the need to be beholden to so-called experts.

Pin Marketing and Technology Company Info and Technology Manager’s Biography
PIN Marketing and Technology is a venture project of the parent company PIN Services, which has been in business since1998, and is located in beautiful Victoria BC and provides services across Canada and around the world.
M. Brian Palmer, Technology Manager and company partner, has had a diverse and interesting career, mainly in the fields of IT and Education. While Brian graduated with Distinction from the University of Guelph with a degree in Physical Chemistry his diverse interests took him far afield. (brian_bio.jpg here) After obtaining a degree in Education from the University of Western Ontario and teaching High School Physics, Math, and Computer Science at inner city schools in Toronto Brian fulfilled a dream to move out west and ended up attending the University of Victoria. After a semester of math and computer science courses Brian became employed in BC Hydro’s IT department and worked his way up from Help Desk to Server and Network Administration and Project Management.
Brian’s path lead him to become dissatisfied with current modes of technology use and education and a chance encounter lead him to form a partnership with the President of PIN Services, Eric Jordan, and a new venture was formed.
Brian believes that to create positive change in people’s lives and in the ways we are living new modes of choosing, using and supporting technology are required. The ability and vision to achieve this is Brian’s core expertise.
Brian is, and has been, a competitive marathon runner, triathlete, and road and mountain biker. He is currently an aspiring guitarist who performs at venues around Victoria and volunteers in his free time as a tutor for Literacy Victoria.
