Smitty's Family Restaurant was constructed in 1979. It is
3,192 square feet in size, exterior walls are constructed of
concrete. There is no imminent requirement to upgrade the
exterior of the building in the forseeable future.
The roof of the building is wood frame construction, flat with a
tar and gravel cap. This is typical of buildings constructed
in this era. The roof was completely refurbished in in
November of 1998 at a cost of $6,100.
Recent renovations and improvements consist of two renovation
projects. One was carried out in 1996, and another in
1999. The 1996 renovations consisted of:
- Replacement of ceiling tiles
- Repainted all seating area walls and trim
- New window coverings
- New carpeting throughout
- Bathrooms completely redone
- Refinished all seating chairs
- Replaced all booth panelling
- Replaced all tables (Nov. 1997)
- New light fixtures installed over all booths
- TOTAL COST - $30,500

The 1999 renovation consisted of:
- Repaint all walls in the dining area
- Resurface till area
- Replaced all boothing
- Installed new valances
- Complete re-roofing
- Refinish all seating chairs
- Replaced all chimneys
