RED RIVER FURNACE AND DUCT CLEANING:
Red River Furnace and Duct Cleaning (hereby know as Red River) has been in business since 1985.  It is the largest Winnipeg owned duct cleaning company and is the second largest duct cleaning company in Winnipeg.  Red River Furnace operates seven duct trucks.  The closest competitor has ten trucks but does fewer jobs each day per truck than Red River.

Residential: Red River Furnace has cleaned over 20,000 residential homes in the last 15 years.  Red River is also competitively priced and is one of the only duct cleaning companies in the city to provide duct brushing with regular duct cleaning.

Red River Furnace operates a variety of equipment to accommodate any size or type of home and heating system.

Commercial: Red River Furnace is among only a few companies that are equipped and trained to perform commercial and industrial duct cleaning in Winnipeg.  Red River has done a variety of such commercial work including: Office Buildings, Penitentiaries, Restaurants, Universities, Apartment Buildings, Government and Health Buildings, Industrial Complexes, Animal Hospitals and Factories.

Red River has maintained a high standard of workmanship over the past 15 years.  This, combined with competitive pricing, and a positive reputation allows us to hold our share of the duct cleaning market in Winnipeg.  Red River is firmly established and growing each year.

Duct cleaning is a new service industry that is growing each year as consumer knowledge increases.  Ten years ago furnace and duct cleaning was not something that the majority of consumers .  With continuing education of the effects of polluted indoor air on the overall health of the consumer, duct cleaning has become forefront in the minds of many health conscious individuals and is quickly becoming a routine maintenance requirement for the homeowner.  Red River has a strong hold on the market share for all duct and furnace cleaning jobs available in Winnipeg.  The future looks very strong.

Red River has an excellent reputation in the region.  This is proved by the fact that after Red River and Power Vac all other competitors combined account for less than 25% of the market share of duct cleaning.  The next nearest competitor operates two trucks and does not necessarily operate year round.

LAWN DOCTOR:
Lawn Doctor specializes in the application of liquid fertilizer and weed control.  The company has been in business since 1985 and has been operated by its current owners since 1990.  

In addition to fertilizing and weed control, Lawn Doctor also performs power raking, lawn aeration, insect control, overseeding and Roundup application.  Full season programs are available and most clients will take advantage of this service having one to four applications per season.  The customer base is residential and is comprised of approximately 1,800 customers annually.  The renewal base exceeds 70% from the previous year’s customers.

Lawn Doctor operates spring, summer and fall.  Seasonal staff are hired.  Lawn Doctor is  licensed to carry out fertilizer, herbicide and insecticide applications.  Lawn Doctor operates four lawn care trucks.  (Two of the vehicles used for lawn care are converted in the fall and winter to operate as duct cleaning trucks.)

There are many competitors in the lawn care field.  Lawn Doctor has a relatively small share of the market when compared to the larger companies.  However, the market share that Lawn Doctor has acquired is very stable.  Lawn Doctor is extremely price competitive and has a guaranteed results program in place.  This keeps the customer renewal base from one year to the next at approximately 70% of the customer base.  Lawn Doctor has had some of the same customers since it’s inception.

Recently, lawn care has been the focus of environmental concerns.   Lawn Doctor uses only 100% organic fertilizer and many other lawn care procedures (aeration, overseeding and power raking) do not involve any chemicals at all!  Although there are no herbicides or  insecticides that are organic at this time, there are many other lawn care procedures that maintain a healthy, weed free lawn.

The demographics are aging and elderly customers.  Due to this, the market is actually growing each year and no end seems to be in site.  Yes, there will be some government regulations and there will also be some changes in chemical equations applied to lawns but, lawn care and weed control is far from a 'thing of the past'.
